  Lientenant-Colonel Charles Archibald McAlester, Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order. - Loup Villa, Axminster, Devon . "Served with the 35th Regiment in Holland in 1799 ; at the siege and capture of Malta in 1800 ; battle of Maida (War Medal with one Clasp) ; siege and capture of the Fort of Scylla in 1806 ; Egyptian campaign of 1807, including assault of the Western Lines, capture of Alexandria, and battle of El Hamet, in which he was wounded and taken prisoner. In 1811, at the capture of the Ionian Islands. In 1813, commanded the 2nd Battalion 35th Regiment during the campaign in the Netherlands, including assault of the village of Merxem and bombardment of Antwerp. In 1815, campaign in the Netherlands and France, including battle of Waterloo, assault and capture of Cambray, and capture of Paris." - Hart's Annual Army List for 1868.
